Tesla makes seat option vegan friendly for future models

In an effort to make the company more vegan-friendly, Tesla has decided to replace the leather seating in its cars for synthetic material.

Tesla has announced that it will only sell cars with vegan-friendly seating options from now on.

In an almost overnight move, the electric car manufacturer has acted on its pledge and decided to completely eliminate leather seats from its product range.

Standing at the forefront of electrically powered vehicles, Tesla says it aims to “accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy,” which explains why leather components contradict the environmentally-friendly company ethos.

Instead, seats now will be made of a synthetic material which is reported to be “durable” and “comfortable” according to recent reviews.

However, leather hasn’t been completely eradicated from Tesla vehicles yet, with a leather-wrapped steering wheel coming as standard. However, it’s possible that Tesla might opt for the synthetic leather wheel as a standard option in the foreseeable future.

Originally offered as a “premium” option on the models’ X and S, motorists were curious to see whether the vegan seating would be available on the Model 3.

Tweeting in April of last year, Elon Musk confirmed that the Model 3 would be available with vegan-friendly seating. But with very limited options on the original release of the model 3, will the seats come as standard or will there be a more traditional seating trim?
