Vauxhall reveals updated Movano van

The Movano is the firm’s largest commercial vehicle, with the revised model majoring on safety

Vauxhall has updated its most spacious van – the Movano – with safety being a key area of improvement for the new model.

On sale from this summer, the new Movano features a rear-view camera for the first time, as well as lane-departure warning and blind-spot monitoring. All have been added to improve the safety for both the driver and other road users – particularly cyclists, which can be notoriously tricky to spot in a larger vehicle.

Driver security is also enhanced with a new ‘side-wind assistant’ aiming to keep the Movano planted, even in heavy gusts.

The latest version of Vauxhall’s ‘Navi 5.0 Intellilink’ seven-inch touchscreen system – the same as seen on models such as the Grandland X – which offers connectivity feature, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration has been fitted, with a wireless charging point also available.

Space is unsurprisingly an important aspect on the Movano, with the van able to carry up to a maximum payload of 2,110kg and 17m3 of cargo. This makes it exceptionally useful, while the van is also offered from Vauxhall with four different length and three height options. The largest of which can carry five euro pallets.

It’s quite hard to alter the styling of a van dramatically, but Vauxhall has integrated a new nose onto its Movano. A new grille and stylishly-integrated LED daytime running lights that run into the chrome grille are the key design upgrades, which bring the brand’s largest van more in line with the smaller Combo and Vivaro models.

Prices and specs will be announced nearer to when the Movano goes on sale in the summer.
