Top Gear’s Stig unveils Forza-inspired Ford Focus RS

A unique version of the all-new Ford Focus RS hyperhatch has been unveiled by Top Gear’s Stig in Cologne.

The special RS appeared at Microsoft’s stand at the Gamescom trade fair and features a unique livery designed by players of the Forza Horizon racing game in conjunction with gaming site IGN.

Dan Greenawalt, creative director of Forza developers Turn 10 Studios, said: “In Cologne we’re excited to showcase the real all-new Focus RS clad in a special paint scheme created by the Forza community.”

First unveiled in February this year, the new Ford Focus RS is the third-generation in the Focus RS range, and the 30th car overall to wear the legendary RS badge.

Developed by the Ford Performance team, which is also responsible for the Mustang and the new Ford GT, the latest Focus RS is powered by a 350bhp 2.3-litre version of the EcoBoost engine.

The first RS model to come with selectable drive modes, including an industry-first Drift Mode for controlled oversteer, it also features four-wheel drive developed by rallycross legend Ken Block.

Both dramatic and functional, the new Focus RS comes outfitted with a range of performance features like a bold upper grille, deep front splitter and large engine cooling vents.

Flared wheel arches enhance its wide stance, while lower wings, huge brake cooling ducts and a large rear diffuser and spoiler combination complete its aggressive appearance.

Riding on 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels with optional racing tyres, it also comes with a high-spec interior which includes part-leather Recaro sports seats and an eight-inch colour touchscreen.

The one-off Forza edition RS made its European debut at Gamescom alongside the new Forza Motorsport 6 game, which is due to go on sale later this year.

As for the Ford Focus RS, it’s currently undergoing production in Germany before going on sale early in 2016. Prices have yet to be released, but it’s expected that more will be known in coming months.

However, the regular Ford Focus is available to buy now, with list prices starting from £13,995. To research your next car and find out how much you can save, get in touch with Car Keys today!
