Donald Trump’s Ferrari F430 F1 flogged for £215,000

A Ferrari previously owned by US President Donald Trump has been sold at auction for rather disappointing £215,000.

A 2007 Ferrari F430 F1 Coupe previously owned by US President Donald Trump has sold at auction in Florida for $270,000 (£215,000). It was sold at an Auctions America event to an unnamed buyer.

The Ferrari F430 F1 sold at auction was bought new by Trump 10 years ago and he only clocked up 2,400 miles on it, although the clock currently shows 6,000 miles.

Initially, it didn’t look like the Italian sportscar was going to sell as it left the podium with a bid of $245,000 – which didn’t meet the set reserve or minimum bid price. However, it was snatched up just moments after by an unnamed buyer for $270,000.

Given its low mileage and excellent condition, you may wonder why the Ferrari didn’t sell for more at auction. As well as former-ownership desirability being a potential turnoff – specifically for those who aren’t in the Trump camp – the F430 F1 has actually seen a decline in value over the last five years, by 15 per cent in fact.

Being the F1 model, Trump’s ex-Ferrari also featured a six-speed paddle-shift transmission, as opposed to a manual transmission, which make it less sought-after among sportscar enthusiasts.

Trump’s cars are a popular auction room commodity. Last month, Trumps’ Cadillac limousine sold for $68,261 (£54,500), but more impressively, his Lamborghini Diablo sold for a whopping $460,000 (£367,300) last September, which is around 75 per cent more than the current average.
