Ken Block’s Gymkhana 9 coming next week, starring the Ford Focus RS RX

Ken Block's Gymkhana 9 is due out on September 13th, this time starring the new Ford Focus RS RX. Watch the teaser trailer here.

Drift addicts rejoice: the latest instalment in tyre-shredding maestro Ken Block’s Gymkhana series is due out on September 13th, and this time he’s got his latest and greatest car yet in tow.

Previous videos have made heavy use of Block’s rally-spec Fiestas and the ridiculous four-wheel drive Hoonicorn Mustang, Gymkhana 9 will see the debut of the all-new Ford Focus RS RX.

Based on the new Ford Focus RS hyperhatch, Dr Block’s 600bhp-plus rallycross monster is all the prescription you need to cure a nasty case of severe burnout withdrawal.

The stunt driver and rally star has released a teaser video on his Instagram account, with a short sneak peek at what fans can expect. Spoiler alert: lots and lots of screaming tyres.

Block has also swapped the more exotic locations of his previous videos for the back streets of Buffalo, New York, with the driver’s Hoonigan team spotted filming there earlier this year.

The Focus RS RX was built by Ford’s official rally partners M-Sport and can develop upwards of 600bhp from its 2.0-litre engine, enough to take it from 0-62mph in under two seconds.

Bonkers? Completely, but that’s actually pretty standard for the international rallycross competitions the car competes in, with hatchbacks faster than a top-spec Nissan GT-R.

Driven by Block and team-mate Andreas Bakkerud, the car has been making a serious impression on the world rallycross circuits, but fans have been itching for a chance to see it fully let off its leash.

Looks like those prayers have been answered. Check out Gymkhana 9 when it debuts next week, and in the meantime you can read more about the new Ford Focus RS here.
