New photo offers first look at new Lamborghini Centenario

A new photo posted by Italian supercar photographer Marchettino has apparently offered the first look at the upcoming Lamborghini Centenario hypercar.

Patent images filed back in October but only uncovered earlier this month depicted rough plans for a new car, and were widely believed to be the early designs for an upcoming anniversary model.

Given that this year marks 100 years since the birth of Lamborghini’s founder and also the 50th anniversary of the Miura, it was speculated that a special car would be built to mark the occasion.

Rumours suggested that the new car would be named the Centenario LP770-4 and built on a long-wheelbase version of the Huracan’s underpinnings with the same V12 engine as the Aventador.

While the car’s name and specifications have yet to be confirmed, judging by Marchettino’s picture, the upcoming model does indeed appear to be a production-ready version of the sketches.

Featuring Lamborghini’s archetypal wedge-shaped design, with a blacked-out roof, long overhangs and a sharp front splitter, the new car also comes with what appears to be silver paintwork.

Perhaps an allusion to the anniversaries this year, details are still scant, but according to the photographer more information will be released this week as part of the Geneva Motor Show.

It’s believed that the Centenario could produce more than 750bhp and will be limited to a production run of between just 20 and 40 models in total, with price estimates around $2.45 million.
