Nissan could build 17 Juke-R Nismo models

According to online reports, Nissan will limit production of its new ultra-performance crossover, the Juke-R 2.0, to just 17 examples.

The Nissan Juke-R 2.0 was shown off to the British public just over a month ago, during the Goodwood Festival of Speed. As the name indicates, this is the second incarnation of the hardcore Juke derivative.

When the 2.0 model arrived at Goodwood, online rumours suggested that this newer version would enter low-volume production. Now it’s being reported that the car will be restricted to just 17 examples this time round. The original version of the Juke-R, launched back in 2012, was limited to just 21 examples. Pricing for the new Juke-R remains unconfirmed but it is rumoured each will cost roughly £420,000.

The Juke-R has a body similar to the standard Nissan Juke, albeit with numerous aerodynamic modifications, but shares most mechanical components with the Nissan GT-R supercar.

These differences transform the Juke-R into a track day monster with a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It produces 591bhp, the same output as the GT-R Nismo and 106bhp more than the previous Juke-R. The top speed for the new model is 165mph and the 0-62mph sprint is covered in just three seconds.

While its price and rarity put the Juke-R out of the reach of almost all motorists in the world, Nissan do offer a much more accessible alternative for British car buyers interested in a fast crossover. The Juke Nismo RS, which produces 215bhp, is available to order now from £21,650.
