See the Nissan X-Trail battle Rebel scum in new Star Wars: Rogue One tie-in

Watch the new Nissan X-Trail dodge blaster bolts, attempt to mow down Rebels and Stormtroopers alike and narrowly escape being crushed under the foot of an AT-ACT.

There’s little marketeers love more than a good Star Wars tie-in, and in the past few years we’ve seen all sorts of Star Wars-themed cars including Stormtrooper-themed Fiat 500s.

Nissan’s partnership with Lucasfilm has yielded something a little bit different, though. Instead of a simple paintjob, it’s sent its X-Trail SUV right into the heart of an interplanetary battle.

Watch the video above to see the X-Trail dodge blaster bolts, nearly mow down Rebels and Stormtroopers alike and barely escape being crushed under the foot of a giant Imperial AT-ACT.

The video was the brainchild of Nissan’s vice president of marketing, Jeremy Tucker, who coincidentally used to work as a marketing executive for Lucasfilm’s parent company, Disney.

Given that the X-Trail is called the Nissan Rogue in North American markets, Tucker spotted the perfect opportunity for a tie-in with the upcoming film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

He said: “We’re always looking for moments that connect the Nissan brand to other powerful brands and culturally relevant moments, and there’s nothing more culturally relevant than Star Wars.”

Along with the video, Nissan also built a special Star Wars Limited Edition version of the SUV, which features exclusive Star Wars badging and even comes with a replica Stormtrooper helmet.

Unfortunately, the Star Wars Limited Edition car isn’t available here in the UK, but the video’s great and if you’re a Star Wars fan, then enjoy it you will.
