Super safe Subaru Levorg now gets EyeSight kit as standard

Subaru has announced that the Levorg estate will now benefit from the addition of the EyeSight safety technology package as standard.

EyeSight comprises a total of six different safety technologies, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure and sway warning systems, plus semi-autonomous emergency braking.

The package also includes systems which automatically cut the throttle when it detects an impending collision, as well as a feature to help drivers steer away from obstructions.

Six different safety technologies

Every Levorg ordered in the UK from now onwards will get the EyeSight package, making the car the fifth Subaru to score a full five stars in Euro NCAP’s independent crash safety tests.

EyeSight is similar in essence to safety suites like Nissan’s Safety Shield, but instead of using sensors or radar, it relies purely on two camera lenses on the rear-view mirror.

Able to view the road ahead in stereoscopic detail, it can even detect pedestrians wearing dark clothing in unlit areas and Subaru says it can completely negate low-speed accidents.

Five-star safety rating

A survey from the manufacturer undertaken last year showed that Subaru vehicles equipped with EyeSight were 61 per cent less likely to be involved in a crash than those without it.

The Subaru Levorg is available to buy in Britain now, however prices for the updated model have yet to be confirmed.
