Tesla unveils entry-level Model X 60D, priced from £64,100

Tesla has unveiled a new entry-level version of its Model X SUV, which is available to order now and which is priced from £64,100.

Called the 60D, it’s still not cheap compared to many other cars but it’s £7,800 less the previous entry point to the range, the £71,900 75D model.

The difference between the two models is thanks to the fact that the 60D has a lower 60kWh output from its battery pack compared to the 75kWh 75D version.

Lower battery output

As a result, the 60D has a shorter range than the 75D, with an estimated maximum range of 200 miles, while the 75D can travel for 237 miles on a single charge according to Tesla’s figures.

Despite this, the entry-level Model X is just as potent as the 75D, with the same four-wheel drive system and the same performance which can take it from 0-60mph in six seconds before hitting a 140mph top speed.

In addition, the 60D will get the same equipment as the 75D version, which includes a large centrally-mounted touchscreen infotainment system and the signature 'Falcon Wing' rear doors.

Available to order now

For buyers in need of more power, Tesla is also offering the range-topping P90D version of the Model X, which generates up to 532bhp and can hit 62mph from a standstill in just 3.2 seconds.

The Tesla Model X is available to order in the UK now, with first deliveries of the world’s first fully-electric SUV due to begin early next year.
