Vauxhall tops Scottish sales charts for March

Corsa proves to be Scotland’s best-seller in a successful month for British manufacturer

Vauxhall topped sales charts Scotland for March, selling 4,484 new cars. Figures released by the Scottish Motor Trade association show this is a 12.5 per cent share of the market, with the Corsa the best-selling car thanks to 1,690 examples finding new homes.

Stephen Norman, Vauxhall’s group managing director, said: “The Scottish market is of great importance to Vauxhall. We are delighted to be Scotland’s best-selling car manufacturer, in March and for the last 11 years – long may it continue. We are also very pleased to see Corsa back to being Scotland’s best-selling car.”

The Corsa has continued to prove a sales success across the whole UK, despite the sun setting on the model in its current form. 13,244 units were sold across the country last month, putting it just behind the Ford Fiesta’s 14,676 in the race for the top. So far this year, Vauxhall has sold 17,647 examples of the hatch too.

A new version of the car is set to debut later in 2019, with Vauxhall previewing the car in a teaser image in February. That picture gave a glimpse of one of its ‘IntelliLux LED Matrix’ headlights — set to become a large selling point for the car.

Few details are known about the car, aside from confirmation that an all-electric version will be in the line-up.
