Since 2007, Dacia has been offering some of the cheapest vehicles on the British market – with the Sandero usually rating as the most affordable car on the road. Following the introduction of its second generation in 2012, that trend with the Sandero has continued – with the hatchback on sale from just £6,995.

It’s such good value
We think it’s worth pointing out just how much practicality you get for the starting price. You get a 320-litre boot – larger than most small hatchbacks – which can be extended to 1,200 litres when all the seats are folded down. Standard kit is quite basic on the entry level Access model, it includes air conditioning, daytime running lights and emergency brake assist – but that’s what the Sandero is all about - good value motoring with only the essentials.
Efficient driving
Two engines are available with the Sandero – both of which are petrol and can achieve well above 50mpg in real-world driving. Paired to a five-speed manual transmission, performance isn’t spectacular, but for the target Sandero driver that won’t be a problem. The small hatch should be more than dependable – offering good motoring for not that much outlay.

Even if all the models have a starting price of less than £9,000, the top-end model can even come with equipment you expect on vehicles £4,000 or £5,000 more expensive. A seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system is fitted that runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and even though it isn’t the pinnacle of entertainment technology, it’s more than enough. Satellite navigation and a DAB radio are also on offer in the top-end Comfort option.
It’s not difficult to see why people choose the Sandero as it so cheap. Even with all the extras added to it, it costs £10,645 – still incredibly good value for a practical hatchback.
