We say Ugly, cumbersome-looking car that suffers from poor build-quality but offers practicality, strong diesel engines and tempting prices.Performance There’s a wide range of engines on the Stilo Multiwagon and it’s one of the estates strongest aspects. There are excellent diesel engines which are the better all round bet but the 1.8-litre petrol unit is the fastest. The 133bhp unit clears 60mph in 10.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 124mph.Emissions The strongest engine in the Stilo’s range is the 1.9-litre MultiJet unit. As well as being one of the faster in the line-up, the 120bhp unit returns 50mpg on a combined cycle and emits a range-low 148g/km in CO2. That’s not that impressive in relation to alternatives on the market but it’s the standout in the range.Driving As you’d expect, there’s lots of bodyroll with the Stilo Multiwagon courtesy of its bulk and soft suspension. On the motorway, it’s a decent cruiser but its washy ride will grate around town.Feel The Stilo Multiwagon comes with a soft suspension setup which means it wallows around corners. It’s comfortable in a straight line but that’s about it; over bumps and potholes it’s unsettled.Space The Stilo carries five adults comfortably and comes with a huge 510-litre boot at the rear.Equipment The Stilo Multiwagon is well kitted out with plenty of equipment and technology. Compared to rivals there are lots more features and it’s one area where it’s better than the majority of its competitors.Price Pricing for the Stilo Multiwagon starts from a little under £12,000 and rise to just £15,000. There will be plenty of deals available.Quality Fiat’s estate isn’t a high-end model and that’s most noticeable inside where fixtures and fittings are poorly put together. It’s basic and all rather dull inside with a lot of cheap plastics and scratchy surfaces around the cabin.Safety The Multiwagon comes with just a four-star safety rating but it does come with ABS, traction control and electronic brakeforce distribution as standard.Pros The Stilo Multiwagon is a cheap and well kitted-out alternative to the mainstream. Diesel engines are strong and reliable.Cons The Stilo Multiwagon is a cheap alternative and that’s most obvious inside where the fixtures and fittings are poor.Alternatives Toyota Corolla Verso, Peugeot 307 SW
