On the road in the new diesel and petrol Cee'd SW, it creates a very favourable impression.Both GS and LS trim levels are very good, the rear door opening is immensely practical if parked in tight spaces and there is good room in the front and back.The low loading floor, sensible shape and cover make it easy and practical. The ride quality is good for an estate with modest body roll coming through but it holds on well to the road and I particularly liked the mid-range pulling power of the 113bhp 1.6 diesel engine. There was no opportunity to test the 89bhp, or an automatic version on the petrol models.The five-speed 120bhp petrol needed to be revved to perform but it was quieter on the motorway than the diesel.The diesel and petrol engines were smooth and never sounded strained while the long travel clutch and direct five-speed manual box were easy in town.I liked the turning circle, the progressive brakes and the layout of the secondary controls was very good.Visibility is clear all round and you can have parking sensors if necessary. There is no doubt that the price is a major attraction for any buyers but let's not make a mistake that you are sacrificing a quality feel as a result or losing out with equipment.The new Kia Cee'd SW is a real boost to the sector which makes competitors look seriously expensive and under-equipped. These facts and the seven-year warranty make it a hard decision not to buy.
