The SUV – or Sports Utility Vehicle to give it its full title – has long been a popular choice in the UK car market, with a baffling array of 4x4s of all shapes and sizes catering for buyers of all budgets.
While the larger models have fallen out fashion in favour of smaller, more economical SUVs, there’s still demand from them for customers who want something with presence, or with a job to do.

The Cherokee is an SUV with a heritage to rival that of Land Rover and the latest incarnation of the famous nameplate is the best yet. It’s spacious and has a unique style, giving it more character than most of its rivals.

The Sorento is Kia’s biggest model and builds on a nameplate that helped the Korean brand build its reputation in the UK. As well as a powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine, the Sorento has a 2,500kg towing capability, which makes it a big hit with caravanners. Plus, it comes with the brand’s trademark seven-year warranty.
