2017 Audi A5 and S5 Cabriolet UK orders start

The new Audi A5 Cabriolet is now available to order in the UK, with first deliveries expected to take place in late April. Pricing starts from £35,235.

Audi has already launched the Coupe and Sportback versions of the newest-generation A5 and the Cabriolet will complete the line-up for the executive cruiser.

The big difference with the Cabriolet version of the A5 is of course the folding fabric roof, which is all-new compared to the previous A5 Cabriolet. Operated with the single press of a button, the roof of the new A5 Cabriolet takes 15 seconds to open and 18 seconds to close, and it can work at speeds of up to 31mph.

Specifications for the 2017 A5 Cabriolet include three trim levels – SE, Sport and S Line – as well as a range-topping S5 performance model.

The entry-level SE trim comes with two engines that both produce 187bhp. There’s a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol available with a six-speed manual gearbox or seven-speed automatic S tronic, as well as a 2.0-litre TDI diesel that uses the S tronic as standard. The standard kit list includes leather upholstery, parking sensors and Audi’s drive select for different driving set-ups.

Opt for the Sport trim, which starts from £37,175, and you can get the same engines available for the SE trim as well as a 248bhp 2.0-litre petrol and a 215bhp 3.0-litre diesel. These engines and the 187bhp diesel are available with Quattro four-wheel drive. Sport models come equipped as standard with sat-nav and front electric sport seats.

The S Line trim starts from £38,785 and comes with lowered and stiffened sport suspension as standard. Finally, the S5 Cabriolet costs £51,835 and uses a feisty 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine with 349bhp. That’s 21bhp more than the previous S5 Cabriolet.
