Honda has revealed pricing for the next-generation Civic Type R hot hatch, which will arrive to retail forecourts this July. The new Type R will start from £30,995 for the entry level model, with the GT version costing an extra £2,000.
The highly-anticipated new version of the Type R uses a 2.0-litre VTEC turbocharged petrol engine offering 316bhp and peak torque of 400Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels and through a six-speed manual transmission.
The Type R has recently intensified the hype surrounding it by setting the new fastest lap for a front-wheel drive production car around the Nürburgring. Compared to the previous Type R, the new hot hatch’s pricing has had only a small increase.
Those who go for the GT version of the new Type R get extra standard equipment. Additions include dual-zone climate control, Honda’s CONNECT infotainment system with Garmin Navigation, a wireless charging pad for compatible smartphones and an auto dimming rear view mirror.
The Head of Cars at Honda UK, Phil Webb, commented: “The order bank is already open and we are experiencing strong interest off the back of the launch at the Geneva Motor Show in March – and this is before our customers have even taken a test drive.”
