Hyundai has announced UK launch details for its new-generation i30 hatchback, which goes on sale in the UK on 1st March with prices starting at £16,995.

The five-door family car will be available in five trim levels and with three engines to choose. At some point later on in 2017, a hot hatch performance N version with a 260bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine will join the range.

Two petrol engines, one diesel

To begin with, the engine line-up includes an entry-level 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol unit with 118bhp. Above that is Hyundai’s all-new 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine boasting 138bhp.

The diesel engine available for the new i30 is a 1.6-litre turbocharged unit offering outputs of 94bhp, 108bhp and 131bhp.

As standard the new i30 utilises a six-speed manual gearbox, but a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic ‘box is available with the 1.4 petrol and 1.6 diesel engines from the car’s mid-level trim upwards.

Five trims to choose

The trim line-up starts with the S trim, which can only use the 1.0-litre petrol engine and carries the £16,995 starting price tag. Standard kit includes LED daytime running lights, DAB radio with USB and aux connections, Bluetooth connectivity, electric windows and steering wheel controls.

Next is the SE trim, starting from £18,695. It comes with a rear parking camera, leather steering wheel and a five-inch touchscreen which controls the infotainment device and other functions.

The mid-level SE Nav trim starts from £19,645 and swaps the five-inch interior display with an eight-inch ‘floating’ touchscreen, which sits atop the centre console. Satellite navigation is another addition.

Following this is the Premium trim from £22,195 which includes dual-zone climate control, electronic parking brake and 17-inch alloy wheels (S trim uses 15-inch alloys and SE and SE Nav have 16-inch).

Topping the range is the Premium SE trim, which starts at £23,495. It comes with a leather seat facings, a heated steering wheel and a panoramic sunroof.

There are 11 paint jobs in total available for the new Hyundai i30’s exterior. Engine Red and Polar White are the two solid paint finish options which come at no extra cost. Joining these are a range of metallic and pearl paint finishes which cost £585 to add.
