2017 Kia Picanto pricing confirmed

UK pricing for the new Kia Picanto city car has been confirmed. The newest version of Kia’s smallest car goes on sale this May and it will start from £9,450.

The new Kia Picanto range includes five trim levels and two petrol engines. Trims include ‘1’, ‘2’, ‘GT-Line’, ‘3’ and ‘GT-Line S’. The sporty-themed GT-Line trims are all-new to the Picanto line-up. The engines available are a 66bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit and an 83bhp 1.25-litre unit.

It is the 1.0-litre engine which is the more frugal, officially averaging 64.2mpg and emitting 101g/km of CO2.

Trims and equipment

It is the ‘1’ trim that has the £9,450 entry-level price and this version of the Picanto exclusively uses the 1.0-litre engine. Standard equipment includes electric front windows, tinted rear windows, automatic headlight control and a radio with auxiliary and USB ports.

The Picanto’s ‘2’ trim is priced from £10,750 with the 1.0-litre engine or £11,250 with the 1.25-litre petrol. From £11,900, the Picanto with the 1.25-litre unit can swap the car’s standard five-speed manual gearbox for a four-speed automatic ‘box.

Standard kit for the ‘2’ trim includes electric rear windows, air conditioning, electric heated door mirrors, Bluetooth with music streaming and leather trim for the steering wheel and gear lever.

The GT-Line trim, which starts at £11,950, comes with 16-inch alloy wheels and sportier designs for the front and rear bumpers, as well as side sills and dual exhaust. Inside, this trim also adds black and red faux leather seats, satin chrome interior door handles and stainless steel pedals with non-slip rubber inserts.

Starting from £12,650 is the ‘3’ trim, which exclusively uses the 1.25-litre petrol engine. Standard kit for this version includes 15-inch alloys, Autonomous Emergency Braking, a rear parking camera and sensors plus electric folding mirrors with LED indicators. Also featured is automatic air conditioning, cruise control and a seven-inch 'floating' central display unit with sat-nav, Bluetooth and media functions.

The range-topping GT-Line S version of the Picanto exclusively uses the 1.25-litre engine and five-speed manual gearbox and it’s priced from £13,950. Standard kit this trim adds includes an electric sunroof, a wireless phone charger, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. At the back, this Picanto also has a dual-height boot floor plus luggage net and hooks.
