BMW has given the 2 Series Active Tourer range an update, with both standard and Grand models receiving design tweaks and new technology.

The main cosmetic change has been to the front end where BMW has added a wider low-mounted air intake and kidney grille, while the rear apron has changed to be more dynamic as it houses larger exhausts.

The optional LED adaptive headlights and front fog lamps have had a redesign, too, while BMW has added new body colours and six alloy wheel designs in 17-, 18- and 19-inch sizes.

The German manufacturer has also updated the interior design with a clearer instrument binnacle, three new upholstery options and a new gear selector for the seven- and eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmissions. Customers can also choose from two iDrive infotainment display sizes, with 6.6- or 8.8-inch touchscreen on offer.

For the plug-in hybrid 225xe Active Tourer, BMW has developed it further and extended the range on all-electric mode by three miles to 28 miles.

New diesel engines have been added that employ emissions-reducing technology, such as diesel particulate filters, NOX absorber catalysts and a selective catalytic reduction system with the help of AdBlue technology.

Active cruise control with speed regulation and traffic jam assistant has also been added to the optional Driving Assistant Plus package.

The new version of the Active and Grand Tourer models will be available from March 2018, with the pricing expected to stay the same as the previous model.
