250,000th Skoda Kodiaq rolls off the production line

After being launched in 2016, the brand’s largest SUV has been made over 100,000 times since the start of 2018.

Skoda has announced that the Kodiaq has surpassed 250,000 units – just two years after the model was revealed.

The brand confirmed that the landmark model was in SportLine trim and came with Meteor Grey bodywork. It will be delivered to a French customer in the near future.

Revealed in September 2016 in Berlin, the Kodiaq is currently one of the brand’s best-selling models and in the first eight months of the year, 100,000 units were produced across six factories.

Michael Oeljeklaus, Skoda board member for production and logistics, said: “Given that we only presented the Skoda Kodiaq two years ago, reaching a figure of 250,000 vehicles produced is an enormous achievement.

“The Kodiaq has changed the Skoda brand’s image and, in doing so, has also spurred on the sales of other models.”

The Kodiaq began the Czech brand’s SUV global offensive, which also includes the mid-size Karoq and Chinese-only Kamiq, and will be the first Skoda SUV to get the vRS treatment.

The vRS will be fitted with a 237bhp 2.0-litre, turbocharged diesel and will be fully revealed at the 2018 Paris Motor Show next week.
