5 cool features on the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé

Here’s some cool features on BMW’s latest model.

If you’ve always wanted something at a similar price point to the BMW 1 Series, but with additional style, there hasn’t really been anything on offer.

Until now that is, when BMW is launching its all-new 2 Series Gran Coupé – a new ‘coupé-like’ version of the 1 Series that adds another dimension to BMW’s range of compact models.

Here are five cool features you’ll find on it…

BMW’s own Intelligent Personal Assistant

Voice assistants are taking over our everyday lives – helping to manage diaries and carry out functions. We’ve already got them on our phones and in our houses, and now we’re also getting them in the cars.

Fitted as standard to the mid-spec 2 Series Gran Coupé is the Intelligent Voice Assistant. Operated using the words ‘Hey BMW’, you can tell the car to carry out functions such as turning the heating on by saying “I’m cold”, as well as asking about the traffic on your route. A whole host of other functions give this voice assistance system a unique selling point.

The ability to unlock your car using your phone

Our phones are already fundamental to our day-to-day lights – helping to keep us constantly connected, and even use them as a way of payment. And with the 2 Series Gran Coupé you’ll be able to use your phone to unlock and start the car.

Available on cars equipped with the ‘Comfort Access’ package is the ability to use your Samsung Galaxy smartphone, which has near field communication – allowing the phone to connect with the car and allow entry.

A performance version available from launch

Often on cars you can be waiting years and years until a performance variant of the car is launched, but BMW is ensuring that you can pick up a sporty 2 Series Gran Coupé from its launch with the M235i xDrive.

Featuring a 302bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine, it’s also the only 2 Series variant to get all-wheel-drive – helping to deliver improved traction. Thanks to this and the engine, it means you can hit 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds and reach a claimed top speed of 155mph.

Impressive array of driver assistance features

Driver assistance systems are an area of car development that has taken off in recent years, with the technology now available on more affordable and compact models like the 2 Series Gran Coupé. Offered on the sleek model are aids like lane change warning, which stops you moving lane when there isn’t a gap or when it’s unsafe. It’s also available with self-parking functionality to help you negotiate tight car parks, though handily front and rear sensors are included as standard.

New head-up display

If you’ve never driven a car with a head-up display, it’s worth getting behind the wheel of a model equipped with one – the 2 Series Gran Coupé being a particularly appealing choice.

Using the same 9.2-inch display that you find on the latest 1 Series, the full-colour display is able to show speed information, as well as driver assistance warnings and satellite navigation information.
