Every year, the British car market undergoes two plate changes so that the registration period for a vehicle can be easily identified.
So, with the September plate change coming up that will see the introduction of the 68 plate, we take a look at the vehicles that are likely to garner the most interest from British drivers…
10. Mercedes C-Class
Likely to be challenged by the BMW 3 Series as the dominant executive saloon, the Mercedes C-Class currently holds a spot in the UK top ten. As one of the top premium models on sale, it is likely the compact saloon will hold a place in many a businessperson’s garage.
9. Mercedes A-Class
Especially after the introduction of an all-new model, the Mercedes A-Class is likely to attract a lot of customers as it comes with a lot of premium features and is a high-end hatchback that Mercedes hopes will bring in plenty of interest.
8. Ford Kuga
As compact crossovers continue to be popular amongst UK car buyers, don’t be surprised if Ford’s offering maintains its current popularity. The Kuga is practical for its size and comes with plenty of quality options to make it a great family car.
7. Volkswagen Polo
The latest version of the Polo that was released to the market earlier this year has already gained attention for its practical supermini format and excellent premium features. The new Polo is likely to be popular with urban drivers.
6. MINI Hatch
The retro supermini holds a special place for British motorists, as it is one of the most popular models in the country in some form or another and continues to be a practical urban cruiser. It also comes with great sporty options.
5. Vauxhall Corsa
Consistently placed within the top 10 for sales in the UK, the Vauxhall Corsa is a very popular city car that continues to impress. Although it isn’t as popular as the Ford Fiesta, the Corsa is easily one of the younger generation’s favourites.
4. Nissan Qashqai
As one of the most popular models in Europe, the Qashqai is the best-selling crossover in the UK and does offer British families plenty of practicality for its drivers. Following its second generation release last year, the model has been a customer favourite.
3. Ford Focus
Ford’s large hatchback is the second most popular family model on the list, and, with the new model on its way, is likely to reinvigorate its established market. Expect the new version to do well.
2. Volkswagen Golf
In terms of an all-round car, the Golf is probably the best available. A well-sized hatchback with efficient engine offerings, the Golf has been the car of the people in Europe for some time and continues to succeed here as well.
1. Ford Fiesta
Would it be anything else? Unlikely, considering the fact the Fiesta has been the UK’s best-seller for a ridiculously long time, and following its update last year, has glued itself into first place by being stylish, easy to use and great to drive.
