Alfa Romeo has revealed the Quadrifoglio performance version of its Stelvio SUV.
Fitted with a 2.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V6 engine, the car has 503bhp at its disposal coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive system. This allows it to hit 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds.
Competing against likes of the Porsche Macan and Audi SQ5, this souped-up Stelvio trumps its rivals top speeds as it maxes out at 176mph.
This performance has helped it become the fastest SUV around the Nürburgring with a time of 7:51.7 – beating the last generation Porsche Cayenne by about eight seconds.
Quadrifoglio translates to ‘four-leaf’ or ‘cloverleaf’ and is Alfa Romeo’s performance department that has upgraded many of the brand’s past models, such as the latest Giulia saloon.
Alfa Romeo has engineered the engine to incorporate fuel-saving technologies, such as the ‘sailing’ function to help save fuel with coasting and cylinder deactivation when the car is put in Advanced Efficiency mode.
The four-wheel drive system also uses torque vectoring technology to give optimum drive throughout corners and chassis control so the car can be setup as and how you like it. The model also has an electromechanical integrated braking system with carbon-ceramic brakes.
With Alfa giving the exterior dynamic tweaks to suit the added performance, the interior has also been altered – with the trim being a mixture of carbon fibre, leather and alcantara. Equipment includes an 8.8-inch media display with infotainment system and satellite navigation.
Prices and full specifications are yet to be revealed, but the Stelvio Quadrifoglio will be going on sale in the UK in summer 2018.
