All-new Honda Jazz unveiled in production form

The production version of the next-generation Honda Jazz supermini has been revealed via new images and details. These have been released ahead of the car’s first public appearance next month at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

Today’s reveal follows the showing of an early prototype version of the new Jazz around five months ago, during the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

Honda says that its new Jazz supermini offers unrivalled versatility and class-leading space. The design of the new car is far more curvaceous to its predecessor, featuring a gloss black grille and sharply raked windscreen.

The new Jazz’s wheelbase is 30mm longer and the car is 90mm longer on the outside overall. This allows the Honda to increase space inside for front and rear passengers. Honda says that the amount of leg, shoulder and headroom in the new Jazz is all unrivalled in the supermini class.

Each new Jazz’s interior will feature a five or seven-inch display screen, depending on the choice of trim level. Range-topping versions of the new Jazz will have touchscreens that can support Android applications.

Engine options for the new Jazz will include a 1.3-litre petrol engine with 102bhp, hooked up to a new six-speed manual gearbox or an optional CVT automatic ‘box. The previously mentioned longer wheelbase, plus the use of lighter suspension parts should both boost ride comfort for the Jazz. A new electric power steering system is also used, which should give the driver more feedback then compared to the previous Jazz.

Prices for the new Honda Jazz will be announced closer to the car’s launch date, which is scheduled for summer this year.
