All-new Mazda CX-30 revealed

The new SUV joins the range between the CX-3 and CX-5, and follows the same design language as the new 3

Mazda has taken the covers off the latest addition to its line-up – the CX-30.

Unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the CX-30 is the third model to join the current SUV range and will sit between the CX-3 and CX-5.

Looking much like the latest Mazda3, the new coupe-like SUV comes with the latest interpretation of the brand’s Kodo design language, with a large front grille and simple yet sharp body creases employed across the bodywork combining to give it a sleek look.

The CX-30 is based on the Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture, while the model will also be fitted with the latest Skyactiv engines – such as the petrol-powered Skyactiv-X unit that offers diesel efficiency alongside performance associated with petrol engines.

Mazda also claims that the cabin can fit four adults in comfort, while the increased ride height over similarly-sized hatchbacks allows for a much better view of the road ahead.

Akira Marumoto, Mazda representative director, president and chief executive officer, said: “We designed the CX-30 to be an essential partner in the customer’s life. It will be made at key global plants so we can deliver Mazda’s renowned driving pleasure and matured Kodo design to customers all over the world.

“Moving forward, our new products and technologies will ensure customers continue to see the value in owning a Mazda car. We aim to be recognised as a brand that forms the strongest of bonds with each customer.”

There is no set date for when it will go on sale, but expect the CX-30 in showrooms in the latter half of 2019.
