The 2017 MINI Countryman has officially been unveiled and is available to order now, priced from £22,465. Find out more here.

MINI has unveiled its all-new Countryman, which is officially the largest model to be launched in the brands 57-year history and which is available to order today.

The new Countryman has bigger dimensions, new looks and new equipment, while it also now benefits from a plug-in hybrid version, which was first unveiled earlier this month.

Priced between £22,465 and £29,565, the new MINI Countryman is available to order from dealerships now, and first customer deliveries are expected to arrive next February.

Largest version of the MINI ever

The car’s wheelbase has been extended by 75mm over the previous version, meaning there’s a lot more space inside, while it also benefits from a redesigned front grille and roof rails as standard.

Inside, the Countryman retains the hallmark central instrument binnacles while the extra space means driver and passenger seats are now more adjustable than ever before.

The second row of seating is now big enough to sit three, while the boot has been likewise upsized to 1,309 litres and the rear doors redesigned to allow easier access.

Five models available

Five trim levels are available, starting with the entry-level Cooper, which is priced from £22,465, while buyers can also opt for the £24,425 Cooper D, or the Cooper S for £24,710.

The Cooper SD starts from £28,430, while the hybrid version is called the Cooper S E, although MINI has stated that pricing for this model will be released separately.

Standard equipment on all models includes sat-nav, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and the MINI Connected infotainment system with a 6.5-inch colour touchscreen.

Standard equipment

Options include the popular Chili and Sport packs, plus a sportier JCW pack and the option to add a Harman Kardon hi-fi speaker system or a large 8.8-inch touchscreen with upgraded sat-nav.

Five engine options are available from launch, with the entry-level Cooper getting a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol with 134bhp, while the Cooper S has a 189bhp 2.0-litre petrol.

Diesel models include a 148bhp 2.0-litre for the Cooper D, while the Cooper SD gets a 187bhp version of the same motor. All models have the choice of manual or automatic gearboxes, except the hybrid and Cooper SD which are automatic only.

Hybrid Cooper S E

As for the Cooper S E, it combines the 1.5-litre engine from the Cooper with an 87bhp electric motor for a total output of 221bhp, while it can drive in pure electric mode for up to 25 miles.

MINI rates the hybrid’s fuel consumption at 134.5mpg with CO2 emissions of just 49g/km, while it states that it can be fully charged from a home wall socket in just over three hours.
