Volkswagen has unveiled an early look at an all-new four-door saloon, which is called the Arteon and is expected to go on sale in 2017.
The manufacturer released a single design sketch previewing what the Arteon will look like, though spy photographers have snapped pictures of test mules earlier this year.
With sleek, coupe-like styling the Arteon is believed to be the replacement for the CC and will sit above the Passat in Volkswagen’s range as a rival to cars like the Audi A5.
Aside from that not much is known about the car, but Volkswagen says that it will feature a design language different to any previous VW model with “harmonious lines and emotionality”.
In terms of engine options you can expect a range of powerful petrols and perhaps a diesel or two to appeal more to business drivers, though Volkswagen is increasingly shying away from diesel.
It’s also likely that either a hybrid or a fully electric version will also be available given the manufacturer’s increasing focus on electrification in the wake of ‘dieselgate’.
In any case you’ll have to wait a bit for more information, but a production-ready version of the Volkswagen Arteon will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next March.
