Arctic Trucks reveals one-off modified Volkswagen Amarok pick-up

The Amarok AT35 will be used as a support vehicle in Iceland for driving experiences and it comes with its own unique equipment list.

In partnership with Arctic Trucks, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has revealed a bespoke version of its Amarok that is built to survive the harshest Icelandic conditions.

Called the Amarok AT35, the pick-up has been specially-modified by the Iceland-based Arctic Trucks team and the project has been done in partnership with the Hekla VWCV dealer based in Iceland’s capital Reykjavik.

This version of the Amarok will be used as a support vehicle for driving experiences on snow and ice in the country’s wilderness, which is known for being one of the harshest in the world.

To combat the volcanic and barren plains, the AT35 has been fitted with flared fibre-glass wheel arches and larger mud flaps – while the car has also been raised by 25mm to accommodate larger all-terrain tyres.

Ensuring that it is prepared for any and all scenarios, the Arctic Trucks team have fitted a fire extinguisher, portable generator, VHF radio, toolbox, a first kit with defibrillator and work light – with a cappuccino machine also being fitted.

The 3.0-litre V6 found in the standard Amarok is under the bonnet, which develops 221bhp and 550Nm of torque.

For British drivers, the standard Amarok will be able to cope with everything winter has to throw at it.”

The standard Amarok starts from £30,899, with the recently-released Aventura limited edition priced from £47,891.
