German manufacturer Audi has set an ambitious target to sell 800,000 electrified units in 2025, despite currently offering just two hybrids and no pure-electric models.
With the introduction of the e-tron all-electric SUV coming towards the end of this year, the Ingolstadt-based firm will also be releasing an e-tron Sportback, an Audi Sport e-tron GT and an all-electric premium compact model in 2019 and 2020.
The new SUV is the first step of Audi’s ‘Roadmap E’ electric mobility plan, which looks to not only make the vehicles it offers more environmentally friendly, but its production plants and processes too. Audi aims to make all its plants carbon-neutral by 2030.
The premium brand also confirmed that by 2025, all of its model ranges will come with an electrified option – may that be as a hybrid or battery-powered.
