Audi teases PB 18 e-tron before Pebble Beach debut

The all-electric concept will be displayed at the world-famous car show next week and is said to be ‘a puristic sports car of the future’.

At the upcoming Pebble Beach Car Week, Audi will be revealing a new supercar concept that is inspired by the brand’s sports cars of old.

Called the PB 18 e-tron, it will come with an all-electric powertrain and is named after both the Pebble Beach event and the R18 e-tron that won the Le Mans 24-hour race in 2012.

The German brand said that the design study will represent a “puristic sports car of the future” and will be unveiled during a special ceremony on August 23.

This model follows on from the e-tron Vision Gran Turismo that was shown off at the Formula E Rome e-Prix earlier this year.

Rumours suggest that the PB 18 will be a preview model for a replacement to the R8 supercar, which has been part of Audi’s line-up since 2008 and will likely come with an electrified powertrain in its next update.

After being unveiled at California’s Laguna Seca race track, the car will be on display at the circuit on August 24 and 25 where it will take part in special presentations, before being shown at the Concourse d’Elegance in Pebble Beach on August 26 – where Audi will also show vintage models and the latest performance cars.
