Best-selling Ford Focus range expanded with new Active X Vignale trim level

The new grade combines the rugged Active model with the plush Vignale

Ford has introduced a further equipment grade to its popular Focus – the Active X Vignale.

Designed to combine the rugged looks of the Active version with the upmarket feel and high standard equipment levels of the Vignale, the new grade is now the range-topping trim, with the exception of the ST hot hatch.

In addition to the Active X model, it adds upmarket features such as self-parking functionality, a heated steering wheel, LED headlights and full leather Vignale seats. It also gains a head-up display, ambient LED interior lighting and a B&O premium sound system.

As with every Focus trim level, the new Active X Vignale is available as both a five-door hatchback and a more practical estate version, with the new version being priced from £27,045 and £28,245 respectively. This means it’s £1,900 more expensive than the regular Active X and £400 more than the standard Vignale version.

Engine options include a 123bhp 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, as well as a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol unit, and finally a 148bhp 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel powertrain.

Next year the Focus line-up will be expanded further with the introduction of a new mild-hybrid powertrain, which will also make its way onto the Fiesta supermini. It makes its first appearance at the start of 2020 on the new Puma crossover.
