BMW 6 Series range updated for 2015

BMW has enhanced its entire 6 Series range for 2015, with more efficient engines and interior and equipment upgrades included. The updated 6 Series models are on sale now with prices starting at £59,430.

Available in three-door Coupe, Convertible and five-door Gran Coupe bodystyles, the 6 Series has received what BMW describes as subtle revisions to improve the all-round package.

Some styling revisions have been made, including aerodynamic improvements and all petrol models now have a sport exhaust system as standard. New LED headlights, an updated front grille and new metallic paint colours are other exterior updates.

The interior, meanwhile, receives new and improved trim materials, a more luxurious centre console and extra standard and personalisation kit. Reflecting the car’s more luxurious feel, the leather dashboard, previously only an optional for all trims apart from M Sport, is now standard. The smartphone app-supporting ConnectedDrive system is now also standard for the BMW 6 Series.

All engines, which are linked to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, receive updates including the latest EfficientDynamics technology from BMW which means greater efficiency. The most efficient engine in the line-up is the 640d which uses a 309bhp 3.0-litre turbodiesel. It now records between 52.3 and 54.3mpg and emits between just 139g/km to 144g/km in CO2 depending on bodystyle choice.

Other engines available for the 6 Series includes the 316bhp 3.0-litre petrol for the 640i and a 444bhp 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol for the 650i. The range-topping, performance-focused M6 models also uses the twin-turbo V8 but boasting as much as 552bhp. That results in a 0-62mph sprint time of just below 4.5 seconds. All the current BMW 6 series models can cover the benchmark sprint in 5.5 seconds or less.
