BMW and Mini announce pay-as-you-go subscription service

The UK-based brand has formed a partnership with BMW and Mini so that customers can choose to have a car on a monthly subscription.

BMW Group and car subscription service Drover have joined forces to offer BMW and Mini vehicles on monthly subscription contracts.

Available on the Mini Hatch, BMW 1,2,3,4,5,X and i models, the contracts are structured much like a phone contract – with the subscription covering the cost of the car, insurance, tax, maintenance, servicing and breakdown cover.

Weekly prices start from £131, and Drover customers can choose a vehicle and then get it delivered to start their contract the next day.

The collaboration came about after Drover undertook the 10-week, BMW Innovation Lab programme, which gave the BMW Group UK management the chance to analyse the performance of the product and offer advice and insight into how it was doing.

Felix Leuschner, founder and chief executive officer of Drover, said: “We are incredibly excited to be working with BMW Group UK and very proud to be announcing our partnership, which is a direct outcome of our participation in BMW’s Innovation Lab.

“Our partnership brings together the latest and best in cars with a new model of ownership to give those demographics access to vehicles who might otherwise not purchase one, driving incremental revenue for BMW Group UK.”

BMW UK sales director Chris Brownridge added: “New, creative solutions allow the chance for car users to experience BMW or MINI ownership for as long or as little as they require.

“BMW Group UK is at the forefront of such development and we are excited to announce a partnership with Drover, the car subscription platform. Through its new subscription model, we are able to provide an even wider range of ways to access BMW and Mini vehicles for retail buyers to suit their changing requirements.”
