BMW reveals M3 CS special edition

The German brand has made its sporty saloon even sportier, as it comes with more power and an aggressive body kit.

BMW has taken the covers off its latest limited-run model that gives the M3 even more power and a more muscular body.

Called the M3 CS, it is fitted with the same six-cylinder, 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine found in the standard M3 – but this version has 454bhp on offer, which is 10bhp more than you would get with the top-spec M3 Competition Pack.

This means a 0-60mph time of 3.7 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 174mph. The engine is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with manual paddle shifters – sending all the power to the rear wheels.

The CS comes with adaptive M suspension as standard which drivers can tune to their tastes, as well as traction control and M differential to help put the power down.

It sits on semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres that are fitted to 19-inch wheels on the front and 20-inch rims on the back for optimum road and track grip.

The body has also been altered, with the CS coming with a front splitter and rear diffuser, as well as a boot lip spoiler for added downforce – all of which are made from lightweight carbon-fibre-reinforced plastics. BMW also adds twin-LED headlights as standard.

Inside customers will find two-tone leather and Alcantara upholstery, a surround sound system paired to the infotainment system and automatic climate control.

The M3 CS is limited to just 1,200 units, with the order books opening from January 2018. BMW will begin building the models in March. Prices are yet to be confirmed.
