Citroen C5 gets new diesels plus styling update

Citroen has updated its C5 range with new, more efficient diesel engines and luxury features for both the exterior and interior.

The Citroen C5 family car range is being updated with two new diesel engines and some new styling features. The up-to-date range will launch later this summer.

Citroen launched the current-generation C5 in Britain all the way back in 2008, but the French manufacturer is evidently far from ready to retire or replace this family car. The changes for this year apply to both the saloon and Tourer estate variants of the C5.

The new engines are both BlueHDi diesels and while exact fuel consumption and CO2 figures have yet to be confirmed, Citroen says they are compliant with Euro6 emission regulations. They both also benefit from stop-start engine technology as standard, saving drivers fuel when idle at traffic stops.

One of the new diesels produces 148bhp and utilises a six-speed manual gearbox, while the other delivers 178bhp and is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

New exterior styling touches join the C5 range also, including 17-inch alloy wheels or 18-inch alloys for the range-topping Exclusive trim. A new paint job for the exterior, called Moka Brown, also joins the C5 range as part of its updates.

Inside, the updated C5 introduces a new navigation system with a seven-inch touchscreen. This gadget also includes a multimedia player that supports audio streaming, USB connectivity and various vehicle setting controls.
