Bold new Citroen C3 unveiled, with just a pinch of Cactus

The Citroen C3 has gotten a bold new look, with chunkier dimensions and the same protective Airbumps as the Cactus, plus new kit which includes a built-in GoPro.

Citroen has unveiled an all new version of its top-selling C3 hatchback, with bold new looks clearly inspired by the C4 Cactus and a range of exciting new kit.

The most noticeable change between the old and the new C3 is its new design, which takes more than a few cues from the larger Cactus with chunkier dimensions and a strip of protective Airbumps.

As well as that, the new C3 gets two-tone paint with a contrasting roof and mirror caps, plus a two-tier headlight structure and a wide choice of colour and pattern options for buyers to choose from.

Looks inspired by C4 Cactus

Nine body colours and three roof options are available to choose from, while buyers can also specify different colour variants for the fog lamp trim, the Airbump surrounds and the rear window trim.

The mini-Cactus theme continues inside, with the same door cards and strap handles as the Cactus, along with the same centre-mounted seven-inch touchscreen which controls most interior functions.

Three interior trim options are available, Metropolitan Grey, Urban Red and Hype Colorado, which alter the colour of the seat upholstery, dashboard trim and various other cabin highlights.

Built-in GoPro

Perhaps the headlining gadget in the new Citroen C3 is the ConnectedCam, which is fitted behind the rear view mirror and acts like a cross between a dash cam and a GoPro action camera.

Drivers can use it to take pictures and videos while they drive, and it can automatically record footage for 30 seconds before a crash and for a full minute after to help with insurance claims.

You can’t take a selfie with it, which is probably a good thing, but you can upload the snaps you take to social media and the ConnectedCam can also save GPS coordinates to help you locate the car.

On sale January 2017

There’s no full word on the engine line-up yet, but Citroen says there’ll be a choice of three petrol engines and two diesels, with both manual and automatic transmissions available.

Full pricing and specifications have yet to be confirmed, but the new Citroen C3 is due to go on sale here in the UK from January next year onwards.
