Cool or creepy? You can buy a Ford Mustang made with real horse hair

You can buy a Ford Mustang made with real horse leather, complete with the hair still on it. Cool, or just plain creepy?

Here’s one that’ll set your, err, hair on end: you can now order a Ford Mustang complete with leather and hair made from a real wild horse. Creepy.

The car was developed by Beijing-based custom shop Vilner for one particularly discerning customer, who found that his new Mustang GT wasn’t quite close enough to its namesake.

Vilner says that the customer in question told them: “This is a real Mustang, I want the leather to be from a mustang as well.”

So, Vilner went ahead and re-upholstered the interior of his car with real horse leather, complete with the hair from the horse’s coat still on it.

"I want the leather to be from a mustang as well"

The company finished the car with fine Alcantara upholstery for the other touchpoints of the interior, and also crafted a bespoke metal plate with the image of the MkI Ford Mustang.

Controversial to say the least, and no doubt a little itchy to sit on as well, so far the car is a one-off, but if you’re so inclined then surely you can place your order for a mustang-covered Mustang too.

What’s next? A Volkswagen Rabbit upholstered in rabbit fur? A Reliant Robin with real feathers? Or maybe a Lotus Carlton made with… Nah, never mind.
