The B-labelled models feature brake-by-wire technology to recover kinetic energy through braking, and they are part of Volvo’s policy that will see all of its cars getting electrified powertrains from this year onwards. The B5 and B6 units will be used on the XC90, and join the T8 petrol plug-in hybrid.

Design-wise, Volvo has given the XC90 a modified grille, new alloy wheel designs and a series of new body colours – while the interior remains unchanged.

With Volvo renowned for continually enhancing the safety of its vehicles, the XC90 comes with additional assistance systems – such as city safety pedestrian and cyclist detection with autobraking, blind spot information, oncoming lane mitigation and cross traffic alert.
