Deposits being taken for 2019 Toyota Supra

300 British customers will be able to get their hands on the sports car in 2019, which is returning to the market for the first time since 2002.

Toyota has announced that deposits are being taken for 300 units of the upcoming Supra, which will be available to customers for 2019 delivery.

Developed in partnership with BMW, the Supra moniker is returning to the market after 16 years out of production – with the model sharing its platform with the new Z4 roadster.

The lucky 300 British customers will need to put down a £1,000 deposit to secure a new Supra, while those wanting a model after that will be able to order one from the start of 2019.

Although it hasn’t officially been unveiled yet, camouflaged prototype models have been on display at the Geneva Motor Show and Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The 2019 version is staying true to its predecessors, as it has a front-engined, rear-wheel drive setup – with more than 300bhp developed from its power unit.

Andrew Cullis, Toyota GB marketing director, said: “The new Toyota Supra is a thoroughbred sports car with huge appeal to customers who are seeking a great driving experience and exclusivity.

“With only limited numbers available, we want to give people the earliest opportunity to secure their vehicle.”

Pricing and specifications have yet to be unveiled, but Toyota says information will be released in the coming months.
