Drivers reveal what annoys them most about parking

Motorists who take up more than one space has been identified as by the far the most annoying thing British motorists face when it comes to parking, according to a recent survey.

The market research company One Poll surveyed 1,000 British drivers on behalf of Budget Insurance to find out what annoyed motorists the most about parking.

As many as 69 per cent of the respondents said their main bugbear were drivers who parked so poorly or selfishly that they ended up taking up two spaces in the process.

The second most commonly cited irritation was motorists parking too close to other cars for convenience, closely followed by people who damage other vehicles in a car park and fail to leave a note.

Less commonly cited parking irritations brought up in the survey included parking spaces that are too small, people who park in disabled spots and dedicated mother and baby spaces.

The same survey revealed that many people don’t claim on their insurance if their car is damaged in a parking-related incident. In fact, 36.4 per cent of those polled said they have paid to have the repairs done themselves in an attempt to avoid making a claim. As many as 37.5 per cent said they don’t bother fixing damage caused by a parking incident.
