The major interior change is the addition of the MBUX infotainment system, which gives drivers satellite navigation with augmented reality, the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice-activated personal assistant and a large touchscreen display. These features can all be operated via gesture control and the multifunction touchpad in the centre console.

Two new versions of the multifunction steering wheel are also available, which can alter the digital instrument display as well.

Mercedes-Benz has also introduced three new engines, all of which are paired to an automatic transmission and 4Matic four-wheel drive. The sole petrol is labelled 300 and develops 187bhp, is teamed with a 48V electrical system and starter-generator that offers a 10kW energy boost, while also helping improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.

The two diesel units – the 220d and 300d – provide 141bhp and 177bhp respectively and both return close to 50mpg.

This version of the GLC is the first to come with the dynamic body control suspension setup that provides three different modes – while the dynamic select driving mode system also available.
