Maserati has announced that it will finally make the option of a petrol engine for its Levante SUV available in the UK.
In other markets, the Levante is available with a Ferrari-built 428bhp 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6, however until now UK-spec cars were only available with the 275bhp 3.0-litre diesel.
That didn’t really go down too well with customers, and Maserati will introduce the petrol Levante from September with prices starting from £70,755.
With the petrol engine, the Levante is fast enough to hit 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds with a top speed of 164mph, while as standard it comes with active air suspension and Maserati’s intelligent Q4 AWD system.
Peter Denton, Maserati North Europe’s region manager, said: “Following the launch of the diesel-powered Levante in the UK, it became clear there is also a demand for the luxury SUV in a petrol-powered version.
“With the Levante now available in the UK with our V6, 430hp petrol engine, we can offer the performance synonymous with Maserati along with the great off-road capabilities and sophistication we designed when creating the Levante.”
