First photos of the new Vauxhall Zafira Tourer

Vauxhall has released the first photos and details of its next-generation Zafira Tourer MPV.

The seven-seater Zafira Tourer receives a new premium-looking design and smartphone connectivity apps via OnStar, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The MPV also retains the Flex7 seating system which previous Zafira models were renowned for, allowing passengers to adjust each individual seat in a vast number of ways to get comfortable.

New styling

When looking at its face, the new Zafira Tourer’s appearance is very reminiscent of the latest Vauxhall Astra launched last year. Highlights include redesigned full LED headlamps and a new grille. The new appearance brings the Zafira Tourer up to date with other recent Vauxhalls and brings more on par with rivals including Ford's latest S-MAX and Galaxy.

There are even bigger differences inside the new car. The dashboard has been completely redesigned and now comes with an integrated touchscreen. It now supports Vauxhall’s latest generation IntelliLink interface, along with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Vauxhall’s own OnStar app, which allows owners to control certain car functions via their phone, including the locks and horn, and download sat-nav destinations, is also supported for the new Zafira Tourer.

There’s plenty of standard safety equipment too, helping with Vauxhall's aim for a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. The list includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision alert and a front camera integrated within the grille.

Like the previous Zafira Tourer, the boot capacity of the new MPV is 710 litres with the third row of seats folded flat. That load space goes up to 1,860 litres when folding the second row of seats. Both figures trump key rivals such as the latest Citroen Grand C4 Picasso and Kia Carens.

Engines and pricing details will be confirmed closer to the new Zafira Tourer’s launch date this October. The MPV is likely to start from just under £20,000 and engines will likely include a 1.4-litre turbo petrol and 1.6-litre diesel.
