First new Ssangyong Rextons arrive in UK after 13,000km drive from Korea

Five Rextons embarked on the trip of a lifetime from South Korea to Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire

What better way to test drive a car than to drive it 13,000km from the factory to the UK? Well, that’s exactly what Ssangyong has done with its latest Rexton.

Five Ssangyong Rextons completed the Rexton Trans Eurasia Trail - a 50 day ‘test drive’ from the Ssangyong factory at Pyeongtaek in South Korea, to the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials in Oxfordshire, that is sponsored by the manufacturer.

The trail took the cars through ten different countries including China, Kazachstan and Russia. The cars also stopped off at the press day at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week.

Mr Johng-sik Choi, CEO of Ssangyong Motor who travelled to Blenheim Palace, said: “This all-new fourth generation Rexton is a major step forward for the brand. The Trans Eurasia trail gave us the ultimate test drive opportunity, and a superb way to launch the car in Europe.

“This was a huge challenge for the cars and their drivers, and the ultimate test of performance and reliability. The cars equipped themselves brilliantly.”

The new Rexton comes with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 179bhp and 420Nm of torque. It goes on sale in the UK next month, starting at £27,500.
