Ford extends production of film-inspired Mustang Bullitt

Following huge demand, Ford has chosen to continue building the Bullitt into 2020.

Ford has confirmed that it is extending the production run of its Mustang Bullitt – a car inspired by the iconic film starring Steve McQueen.

Order books first opened for the new Mustang Bullitt in June 2018 to celebrate 50 years since the Warner Bros. film aired, with all order slots being filled in a short space of time. The production run was originally meant to end this month, but Ford has today announced this will be extended into 2020.

The Bullitt is available in the iconic shade of Dark Highland Green as well as Shadow Black, and comes with black 19-inch alloy wheels and red brake callipers to differentiate it from the standard Mustang.

The cabin also benefits from Recaro sports seats, a digital instrument cluster and a special Bullitt Bullitt plaque on the dashboard, which is individually numbered.

The American firm is also making its ‘FordPass Connect modem’ feature standard, which includes features such as live traffic updates, a Wi-Fi hotspot and further smartphone integration.

Power is delivered by a 5.0-litre V8 producing 453bhp and 526Nm of torque, sending its power to the rear wheels. This allows for a 0-60mph time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.
