Ford launches two new special-edition Ranger pick-ups

The Ranger Stormtrak and Ranger Wolftrak bring new styling and additional kit to the range

Ford has revealed two new special-edition versions of its best-selling Ranger pick-up – the Stormtrak and Wolftrak.

Joining the already extensive Ranger line-up, the models aim to bring new styling features to make them stand out from the crowd.

Let’s begin with the style-obsessed Stormtrak models, which come painted in a unique Rapid Red colour and get red grille inserts. It also comes with 3D badging, a black rear bumper and sports hoop and exclusive decals on the body and lower panels.

The Stormtrak also features Ford’s new electric roller shutter as standard (it will usually be an option), increasing convenience and practicality as it can open and close using the key fob or by pressing buttons in the cabin. The Stormtrak models sit close to the top of the range, and are powered by a 210bhp 2.0-litre biturbo diesel engine.

For those wanting something a bit more utilitarian, Ford offers the new Wolftrak, which is based on the mid-spec XLT grade. The firm says it’s expected to appeal to those in farming, forestry and outdoor pursuits. It comes painted in Conquer Grey, with beefed-up underbody protection and black 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Wolftrak also features darkened badges, plastic moulded side steps and inside comes with a matte black instrument panel and all-weather durable floor mats. Wolftrak versions are also powered by a 168bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine.

Ford hasn’t said what the cap on production numbers is, but said they would be “built in limited numbers to guarantee exclusivity”. Prices are set to be announced closer to when the models arrive in showrooms in October.
