Ford unleashes special Focus RS for 2017 Tour De France

To celebrate an extended partnership, Ford has provided Sky's cycling team with a special Focus RS to lead the fleet in 2017's Tour De France.

In celebration of an extended partnership with Sky’s cycling team, Ford has built a sublime white Focus RS to be included in the already existing fleet of team vehicles.

Sporting a livery that matches the cycle team uniform, the car is set to lead the cyclists as they attempt to navigate and conquer the Tour De France.

Roelant de Waard, vice president of marketing, sales and service at Ford of Europe stated: “Racing on two wheels is increasingly capturing the imagination of sports fans across Europe – and is underpinned by the best possible support on four wheels. We are excited to continue to support Team Sky in their pursuit of further cycling success.”

Featuring alongside other Ford models including the Mondeo, S-Max, Edge and Transit vehicles, the left-hand drive RS Option Pack will lead the fleet during the race, which starts on July 1 in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The car is set to act as a scout for the competitors, providing the riders with a recce for the road ahead. Carefully tuned to handle a variety of different race scenarios, road conditions and weather, the car has a variety of notable modifications.

From a custom-made bicycle rack, stable enough to secure bikes in extreme driving situations to the Recaro seats, specially developed to allow the driver and support team to move about with more freedom.  Overall, the car is set to be a great addition to the team, especially when assisting riders at high speeds.
