Google Maps is doing its bit to help encourage more drivers to switch to electric vehicles by showing users electric car chargers that are available to use.
The firm’s latest update for its popular sat nav app will also show drivers if chargers are available or in use.
In a similar way to how drivers can search for local petrol stations and restaurants, users can simply search ‘EV charging stations in the app’ in order to get information about local chargers.
Other helpful details, such as the charging speeds, where the station is located on a site and what charging ports it offers, will also be shown on the app to make it even easier for those with EVs to see where and when they can charge.
Chargemaster – the UK’s largest provider of EV chargers – has its chargers appearing on the app, although it’s not yet known if other large firms such as Pod Point and EO Charging will follow suit.
The latest update is available now to Android and iOS users, as well as desktop.
