Here is the 2017 Vauxhall Insignia

Vauxhall has revealed the first official images and details for its new-generation Insignia hatchback. It now has the full name of Insignia Grand Sport and introduces more premium features which Vauxhall hopes will allow it to take sales away from the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Jaguar XE.

Based on an all-new platform called Epsilon 2, the new Insignia is up to 175kg lighter than its predecessor.

It also has some intriguing exterior design features, like a central crease line on the bonnet, which take inspiration from the sporty Vauxhall Monza concept car revealed a few years ago.

Bigger and more premium interior

The interior meanwhile is more spacious and features higher quality materials and upgraded connectivity and infotainment options, and these updates in particular are what makes Vauxhall think it can contend with established executive car names.

Interior highlights include an IntelliLink system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a Wi-Fi hotspot and even wireless charging for smartphones. The front seats can be fitted with massage functions and the rear seats can be equipped with their own separate heaters.

Turbo engines included

Engines for the 2017 Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport include a series of turbocharged four-cylinder units. There’s an all-new 1.5-litre petrol unit featured, which produces 163bhp and is linked with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Also available will be the same 1.4-litre petrol turbo available for the Astra, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre diesels with outputs of 110bhp and a top-of-the-range 2.0-litre petrol unit boasting 247bhp.

The Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport will reportedly launch in Britain during June 2017 and pricing is set to start from about £18,000.
